Championship Week 6

In Game week six, Michael Glaveys Ladies hosted The Heath. Some excellent Rounders came from the Leinster veterans, helping them secure a good win on a score line of 35-4. Glaveys Linda Rogan, was man of the match as Cather, with some fine outs and double plays.  

Erne Eagle's Men traveled to Tymon Park, faceing Limekiln Dublin. Cavans L.O.F Darryl Dolan, hit a monster Home Run in the first innings that shook the Dub's. Ulsters Sean Brady was the only player never put out, while Limekilns Adam Riordan, made the most out's for this game. Eagles had a comfortable win, 38-15.
 
Ballinagore faced Glynn/ Barntown in Mixed next. Wexfords Paul Cooper had an outstanding game at batting, with two Home Runs secured for his team, along with Kenny & Richie O Reilly. Star player for Ballinagore was Declan Claffey as Pitcher, final result 30-9 in favour of Glynn/Barntown.
 
Breaffy faced Sporting Limerick, in Athenry next. Mayos Steve Jordan, had a 100% success rate at bat. Munsters Martha O Sullivan was also never put out. Game finished 19-7 to Breaffy.
 
On Tuesday the 12th, Bagenalstown faced Barntown Gaels in Ladies. A draw game going in to the 4th innings, the Carlow side pulled away, with the help of some fine fielding from Anne Marie Meaney & Sharon O Rourke. Final result 22-7.
 
The Following evening Limekiln hosted Cuchulainn Carlow in  Ladies & Mixed. Ladies was first, in what can only be described as a marathon game.  22-7 at the bottom of the third to the host team, Cuchulainn closed the gap, scoring nine runs due to some amazing hits from Ann Marie Brennan & Gillian Nolan. Both Chantelle Blanch & Liz Maguire had game changing catches in Short Stop. Game ended 27-21 in favour of the Dub's.
 
Mixed was next. Cuchulainn's first 3 batters were put out, with a superb double play coming from Eddie Healy. Carlows Darryl O Mara, retaliated in the second innings, with a bases loaded Home Run. Limekilns Chris Hughes had a 100% success rate at bat, helping his team secure a win on a score line of 19-11.
 
For our last day of game week 6 we headed to MaGuire park Longford. Breaffy faced Na Fianna in Men first, great batting from Connacht's nine and splendid fielding from Colm Jordan in L.O.F, secured Breaffy a comfortable win on a score line of 30-4.
 
Breaffy took on Greenhills Ladies after, in a much closer game. The Dub's Ann Meegan had most catches in L.O.F, while team mate Niamh Haverty was the only player never put out. 2-1 going into the 5th, Mayos Katie Kenny, hit a superb ball, sparking the rest of her team to do the same. Breaffy ahead by 13 and Greenhills last bat, Michelle Hopkins stepped up her game as pitcher, taking out Greenhills first two players, helping to secure her team another win, on a scoreline of 15-2.
 
Mullahoran was the place to be next, Erne Eagles hosted St.Croans in Mixed. Eagles scored 6 & conceded 0 in the first innings, Cavans Gerrard Clarkin, took the three outs required for his team on First Base. Ulster's Gary Reilly, Michael Cullen & Ger Clarkin all hit Homers in the second innings, the Roscommon side couldn't recover from this, game ended 20-6.
